Teachers from an unnamed West Hartford High School

Crime and Punishment Homepage

This page is dedicated to the book by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

This project is a combined effort of Mrs. Casey's World Literature classes at an unnamed High School in West Hartford, Connecticut, and Mrs. Steier, who runs The Unnamed West Hartford High School Career Center. Mrs. Steier was student teaching at the time this project was assembled.

For Those of you unfamiliar with Russian history or literature, Mr. Dostoevsky wrote a book about a vicious murder which took place in St. Petersburg. There's a lot about guilt and redemption, love, and deception, blood and gore. We'll try to give you CRIME AND PUNISHMENT from our perspective. If you don't like it, well, go someplace else.

Otherwise, stick around and read our synopsis of Crime and Punishment.

For any educators out there, this project served a number of purposes. First, by writing a synopsis, the students reviewed the book, which is quite a difficult one, especially for high school students. Second, the writing of links gave the students the opportunity to find ways of relating the book to their own interests. Last, we now have an annotated synopsis of Crime and Punishment which can serve to help other classes acclimate themselves to some of the subjects and themes in this book.

We must refer to ourselves as an "unnamed High School" because the current policy of our school district technology department is to not allow the use of the school name unless the page is an official one. Since this page is maintained by Elena Steier, and not by the school technology department, we can not use the name of the school.
